I came to school and several colleagues asked how I was doing. I appreciated that. I really do work at a GREAT place. And I reminded them that the one thing that is constant is change. It happens every year. This year it is just much deeper than normal. At this point there is still no way to say what my job WILL be next year. Unlike so many who are facing job changes and/or losses in this economy, I have options.
Today, I'm a bit shell-shocked. But tomorrow will come and I'll be fine. I feel sorry for young teachers who are just starting out and cannot get jobs. I hurt for those who are already in classrooms who will be "bumped out" by more senior people. I can't imagine being certified in one area and being told that the area will not be offered next year. Those people are in a position that must be so very frustrating.
So here is the verse I am resting in today from Isaiah 26:
3 You, Lord, give true peace
to those who depend on you,
because they trust you.
4 So, trust the Lord always,
because he is our Rock forever.

Aw, Susan, I thought about you when I saw literacy coaches were being cut in Sarasota Co. on the news yesterday/ today. Praise the Lord that you have other options though! My thoughts and prayers are with you. I certainly understand what going through change is like! :)

Sorry to hear this, Susan. The effects of what is, and has, happening in our country and economy are starting to effect so many. Our trust and source must always and ever be in the Lord. I cling to the saying, When God closes a door, He always opens another.

I do know God knows the plans he has for you, to prosper you---and all of the children at your school.

Change is always hard but what a great verse and a Great God to trust. Gotcha all prayed up sweet sister. I'm excited to see what new challenges and possibilities will be opening up for you.
Sorry that you had to find out by reading it in the newspapers!!! That would be hard for me...but maybe you do things differently in Florida!
You have a great attitude and that plus resting in God will give you peace! As teachers...we are to be flexible...but sometimes change is hard.

I am so sorry for you Susan. We live in an affluent area, but our county schools are feeling the strain as well. At my son's school, they have even turned down the heat some to save money! Our principal is doing everything she can to save teaching positions. I hope that whatever role you have next year will be a blessing to you and to the students.

wow, I'm really sorry. It is hard, it seems everyone around me is being affected by the economy. I feel badly for the kids who are just getting out of college and have no where to go. I just can't even imagine. If things don't pick up for us - once we move to the Brandon area - I'll be delivering pizzas!
