So, I went to the drier and sat across from a woman who already had her hands and feet under it. I thought I left her enough room when I put my feet under. But apparently, I didn't guess right. I felt her foot near mine and saw the utter disgust on her face when I hit her big toe. I started apologizing. I wanted to CRAWL under the drier and hide! She just GLARED at me...like I had just robbed her blind and spit on her. Her face was that of a spoiled BRAT prima dona who didn't get HER way.
She began frantically looking for her nail tech to fix it. And when the nail tech came to see what's wrong, she said, "What did you do?" I said, "She didn't do it...I did. I am SO sorry!" The nail tech laughed and said, "It's OK...it can be fixed." I think at that point prima dona's hair started standing on end. She walked to the pedicure chair to get it fixed and I watched it all with such amazement.
I mean all was still OK in the world. I didn't do it on purpose. But when the nail tech said, "You can go back under the drier." She shot me a look and told the nail tech, "NO WAY! I'm going to sit right HERE and let it dry."
My nails were done drying and I left. It still has me so baffled that people let little stuff get to them like that. I feel sorry for her. If that's all it takes to set her off, then I wonder just how satisfied she is in the rest of her life.
And, as always, I took a lesson away from it. I am pretty sure we all get our "toes stepped on" occasionally. And I'm pretty sure we all overreact too. Perhaps, when it happens, it's time to step back and really try to get new perspective. And, we need to extend forgiveness when the opportunity presents itself.

And now for my updates...which could be titled, "Why it's been so long since I've blogged..."
* DH flew to Texas a second time last week in his new airplane. I was not nearly as panicked watching him via the flight tracker as I was the first time he did it. He likes it.
* DSs 2 and 3's video made the top 20 for the CBS Grammy Award contest. They really could use any votes that anyone can send their way. This is the link for their video. You can vote more than once. I just mute my computer and hit "refresh/vote" several times at a sitting. They will narrow it down to 10 videos on Friday based solely on votes. Then there will be another voting window where they will be narrowed down to three that will be shown on the Grammy awards. The winner will receive $5,000! (NO they didn't get to pick the song. I don't like the song...but they worked very hard and think the video is funny and well-done. If you're willing, please forward the link to anyone you know that might vote for them. They will need a lot of support to make it the whole way.)
* I hosted the first of 6 scrapbooking nights at my house the other night. We had a great time getting to visit with each other. I am hoping that this is another way to reach into the community.
* Yesterday, we celebrated my brother's birthday and DS 4's birthday (again) in Tampa. It was a nice afternoon.
OK, that's it from my neck of the woods.
Until next time...

You know, I have a REALLY HARD TIME when things like your "nail episode" happen to me. It is very hard for me to handle when people behave that way to me. I truly have a hard time shaking it off. Yes, I'm working on my "sensitivity switch" and I realize that my reactions are MY reactions and my thinking can be changed but it's harder for me to do. I mean, I can't even watch the American Idol auditions because I feel this sort of humiliation feeling watching how the contestants are treated. Therefore, I can't even begin to imagine how I would've reacted had I been in your seat. Hopefully, I wouldn't have started yelling at "little miss (or Mrs.) spoiled Brat" but, frankly, I'm not sure. There's a lesson in THAT for me.
The scrapbooking night was a blast, and it's been tons of fun voting for the boys, even though that SONG has been running through my brain for too long now.
Have a great week! x
"If you can be offended, you will be offended." Yes, we all get out toes stepped on and yes, it is certainly up to us as how we react. My prayer is that I will react in a Christ-like manner. The first response that comes out, without our even thinking is the REAL us from the inside!!!
Great post, Susan. I, like you, always have pity on the person who gets so upset. It does show they don't have the Love of God and Fruit of the Spirit. That is a sad, unfortunate person indeed.
Ssan
Thank you for the comments you leave on Little Lessons...YOU are such a GREAT encouragement to me. God Bless,
Sharon
I really DO FEEL sorry for that lady!! I bet she does not have the friends that you and I have nor the nice families that we have!! She is not a happy person...Also I bet...that she does not know the Lord either..What a nasty lady!! My...you know we are not to sweat the small stuff...the BIG things are hard enough..Smile..Sorry that I have not been around for a bit...Trying to catch up..Sandy
A boss once told me "don't let people offend you, because then you'll be offended practically all the time", which is so true. Especially when it was an innocent mistake. If she reacts that way to something that minor, I'd hate to be the "other guy" when she has road rage. Geesh....lighten up,people.
Wow! I am so sorry she was so rude to you! I really have a hard time understanding people who react that way to such minor details. I am sorry for her that she has to go through life with such a negative attitude!
Not like she had to pay for the touch up - HOLY CRACKERS!
What an interesting story. I never go to a nail salon so I wouldn't know. My goodness!
Hey girlfriend! Sorry about the bad experience but I love the way you put it together because I both step on and have had my toes stepped on (figuratively) and yes I over-react. Just love the way you pulled this one together today!!!
Keep smiling. I'll be YOUR toes look great. :-)
Wow...I'm the type that when something like that happens to me I tend to take it too much to heart...God is still working on me in that area of taking things personally even if it's the other person's fault or if they've overreacted...
You are so right...makes you wonder how the rest of her life is if she is that easily offended!
Now Susan, you should have gotten on your knees and repaired her polish yourself and then offered to pay her bill and her next visit too. And then you should have driven her home, taken her in her home and help her into her chair and put her precious little toes on an ottoman. THEN, fix her some tea, hand her her favorite book and then cook dinner for her. After all that she MIGHT forgive you......NOT!!!
This woman has serious issues...
by sharing this little episode, you helped all of your readers put themselves in your place and her place. two lessons for the price of one. Thanks for sharing, Susan
Hmm...I know girls like that girl in the salon...it really is sad to live a life that something that simple can ruin your whole day. those are the people who think only of themselves and whom we should all pray for. The ones who neglect the little times with their kids getting down and dirty because they may actually get dirty. They miss out on so much in life becuas they are more concerned with their apperance and what people think of them.
I wish I was closer to have scrapbooked with you! I actually did a book last night (quickly) just of my cards from the past two years - it is neat looking at all the kids growing. :)
