A Sad Story

I am feeling like my blog is getting really deep this week. I learned about a family at my school yesterday and it has broken my heart. The Mother was out of town at a conference. Dad stayed home with his two daughters (1st and 3rd grade).

Mom came back to town on Saturday morning and stopped by her work for something. While there, she got a call from one of the girls who said, "Mommy, will you come home and make us some breakfast? We're hungry."

The Mother told the girls to go get Daddy to make breakfast. The girl said, "He's asleep and he won't wake up." Mom replied, "Well, try to wake him up again." The little girl did. Hearing the girls try to wake up their Dad, the Mother began to panic and went straight home only to find her husband had passed away sometime in his sleep.

This just breaks my heart! He was only in his 40's. The girls are confused and don't know what to think. And to top it all off, I found out yesterday that the family had no life insurance.

If you are visiting here today and find it in your heart to do so...please whisper a prayer for this family. Many many people in our school community are reaching out to them with support.

This is the third family at my school to lose a parent in the last 6 months. One girl called 911 when her Mother died in the Spring. One boy's Dad was shot while running from police. And we wonder why they can't sit still and learn the things we need them to in class.

It's hard to blog when you are sad.
